KAL Online Glossary
A reference guide to the terms you'll come across on KAL Online private servers. Each entry briefly explains what a term means and how it affects your server choice and gameplay. Terms link to related ones, and you can jump straight from an entry to matching servers.
- Classes
- KAL Online offers six classes to choose from: Knight (melee fighter), Archer (ranged fighter), Magician (spellcaster), Thief (agile fighter), Shaman (support and healing), and Sword Trickster. The last one isn't available from the start — it unlocks at a higher level. There are no races in the game; characters differ only by class. Class defines your combat style and role in a group, so it's the first major decision when creating a character. Related: Class Change, Mentoring (Teacher-Student), PvP
- Number of Classes (3–6)
- KAL Online private servers vary in how many classes are available: some open all six, others only the base three or four. A smaller set simplifies balance and makes the choice clearer for newcomers, while a larger one offers more variety. This number is usually listed in a server's description, so it's worth checking if you care about a specific class or a wide range of roles to play. Related: Classes, Class Change
- Class Change
- Class Change is a KAL Online progression system where your character goes through three sequential class stages, unlocking new skills and strengthening your role. Each stage noticeably changes what you can do in combat. On private servers, the requirements for class changes and the skills available can differ, so it's useful to check this mechanic when planning your leveling and picking a server that fits your preferred playstyle. Related: Classes, Mentoring (Teacher-Student)
- Mentoring (Teacher-Student)
- Mentoring is a KAL Online social system that pairs an experienced player (teacher) with a newcomer (student) for mutual bonuses and help with leveling. It encourages interaction and makes it easier for new players to get started. Private servers differ in whether this system exists and how it's tuned, so it's worth considering if the social side of the game and early-game support matter to you. Related: Classes, Crafting
- Crafting
- Crafting is the creation and upgrading of gear in KAL Online using gathered materials. A well-developed crafting system offers an alternative to simply buying items and makes the economy feel more alive. On private servers, the availability of recipes, materials, and upgrade odds is tuned separately, which affects how important crafting is for character progression — worth checking if you're picking a server with an economy focus. Related: Mentoring (Teacher-Student), Rates (Low, Mid, High)
- Castle Siege
- Castle Siege is a large-scale PvP event in KAL Online where guilds battle for control of fortifications. Holding a castle grants prestige and advantages, and sieges themselves are the peak of organized guild-vs-guild combat. How active sieges are is a good sign of how alive a server's team PvP is, so players who value guild wars and large-scale battles — not just solo play — pay close attention to this. Related: PvP, Guild
- Guild
- A guild is a group of KAL Online players who team up for boss runs, castle sieges, and wars with other guilds. A strong, active guild is the foundation of organized PvP and endgame content. Much of how interesting a server stays in the long run depends on guild life, so the presence of active guilds and ongoing rivalries is an important sign of a healthy project when choosing where to play. Related: Castle Siege, PvP
- Old Engine (Classic)
- Old is the classic KAL Online engine, recreating an early version of the game before international content was added. Servers running it offer an old-school experience from the game's first years, with familiar balance and fewer systems. The engine label helps you see which era of the game a server is close to. Old servers appeal to those who prefer a nostalgic, classic KAL Online over later, expanded content. Related: INT Engine (International), Latest Engine (Newest)
- INT Engine (International)
- INT is a KAL Online engine built on the international version of the game: it adds systems and content missing from the earliest client. Servers on INT sit between the classic and the newest client. The engine label matters because it determines available content and balance, so it's worth checking when choosing a server for the era and feature set you want. Related: Old Engine (Classic), Latest Engine (Newest)
- Latest Engine (Newest)
- Latest is the newest KAL Online engine, matching the current client with the most up-to-date systems and content. Servers running it offer the most modern gameplay experience. The engine label helps you tell these projects apart from the classic Old and the intermediate INT. Latest is chosen by those who want the full modern content rather than a recreation of earlier versions of the game. Related: Old Engine (Classic), INT Engine (International)
- PvP
- PvP (player versus player) means fighting other players rather than monsters. In KAL Online, PvP covers duels, open-world skirmishes, castle sieges, and guild wars. Servers focused on PvP emphasize frequent clashes and active competition for castles. If you're drawn to fighting real opponents, look for projects with active guilds and regular sieges. Related: PvE, Castle Siege, Classes
- PvE
- PvE (player versus environment) means playing against the world — monsters, bosses, and quests — rather than other players. In KAL Online, PvE covers leveling, crafting, and gearing up to prepare for PvP and sieges. Even though many players value the game for large-scale PvP, PvE remains the foundation of character progression, so leveling pace and zone variety matter when picking a server that fits your playstyle. Related: PvP, Crafting, Rates (Low, Mid, High)
- Rates (Low, Mid, High)
- Rates are multipliers for experience, drop, and currency gains compared to the official game. Low-rate keeps progression slow and close to the original; mid-rate offers a moderate pace; high-rate quickly gets you to endgame and PvP. Rates are one of the main things players use to choose a server, so they're usually listed near the top of a description, alongside the engine and number of classes. Related: Mid-Rate, High-Rate, KAL Online Private Server
- Mid-Rate
- Mid-rate servers in KAL Online offer average rates: progression is faster than on low-rate, but not as fast as on high-rate. It's a middle ground between careful leveling and a quick jump to PvP, suited to players who want neither a long grind nor an instant endgame. The label helps you find a server matching a pace that's comfortable for you. Related: Rates (Low, Mid, High), High-Rate
- High-Rate
- High-rate servers in KAL Online offer fast progression, taking you almost straight to endgame and PvP without a long grind. They're chosen by players who value fast fights and sieges over slow, gradual development. The high-rate label helps you tell these servers apart from classic low-rate projects built around steady content progression. Related: Rates (Low, Mid, High), Mid-Rate
- KAL Online Private Server
- A private server is a project run by a team of enthusiasts outside the game's official infrastructure. These servers set their own engine (Old, INT, or Latest), rates, number of classes, and PvP rules, so projects can differ quite a bit from one another. KAL Online private servers let you play classic versions or the newest client with faster progression — something worth looking at when choosing where to play.
